Supreme Synthetic 0W-20 – A Solution to workshop 0W-20 Requirements

Latest technology hybrid, electric and downsized engines have hit the market hard over recent years with more and more workshops now facing a myriad of new engine oil requirements without much information available to help negotiate the right way. These new engines have arrived due to pressures on manufacturers to offer cleaner, greener and more efficient engines whilst also providing improved performance for users. Whilst the easy options is to say change to fully electric, manufacturers recognise that not all drivers are ready to go fully electric and so developments in thermal engines (Hybrids, Petrol & Diesel) are helping manufacturers meet some of these requirements. These developments have led to downsized engines and along with any new engine development come new requirements on engine oils, these developments have also led new challenges such as LSPI (Low Speed Pre-Ignition). ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association), API (American Petroleum Institute ) and ILSAC (International Lubricant Specification Advisory Committee) have all figured out the solution to these requirements and how to reduce LSPI through the use of next generation engine oils and have issued their latest approvals for these:

  • ACEA C6 or C5
  • API SP or SN
  • ILSAC GF 6 A or B

Petro Canada’s Supreme Synthetic 0W-20 engine oil is one of Petro Canada’s most advanced engine oils and has been designed to exceed the requirements of most of these modern engines and for use in some of the most extreme conditions. It has the API SP approval and exceeds the API SN approval, it also has the ILSAC GF-6A approval and the latest GM Dexos 1® Gen 3 approval. Exceeding the requirements of these approvals tests means you can have supreme confidence in using Petro Canada’s Supreme Synthetic 0W-20 where engines have these or lower requirements meaning it can work as a suitable product for workshops trying to consolidate the number of oil products in stock.  This product is part of the great Petro Canada Supreme Synthetic range which is formulated from Petro-Canada’s 99.9% pure base oils which are amongst the purest in the world.

This extreme purity in comparison to most leading competitors allows Petro Canada to boast about offering longer engine life through enhanced lubrication and protection of critical engine parts, including enhanced protection for the latest emission control systems, turbochargers, and injection engines. These claims are backed up thanks to the advantages from the purity of the base oils used:

  • Longer life oil protecting the engine for longer due to exceptional resistance to high engine temperatures, especially in stop-start driving.
  • Improved fluidity when engine wear can be at its worst during start up.
  • Reduced oil consumption meaning less topping up.
  • Protection for exhaust emission control systems, helping to reduce emissions.
  • Protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) and accelerated timing-chain wear.
  • Lower fuel costs because of fuel economy through lower fuel consumption.

As a result of the Supreme Synthetic 0W-20’s exceptional formulation, in addition to the international approvals mentioned the product also meets and exceeds some of the latest vehicle manufacturers OEM approvals. The Supreme Synthetic 0W-20 can be used in just to name a few OEMs; Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Toyota & many more vehicles which require a 0W-20 oil with ILSAC GF 6 or API SP.
