Oil analysis originated in research laboratories, when new lubricants were being developed, as a technique to establish how oils deteriorated under operating conditions. Over many years different tests were developed and standardised and it is these individual tests that are now combined into the suites of tests performed on each sample sent to the laboratory.
Lubricating oil analysis is carried out for a number of different reasons including:
Finol has two laboratories available as part of the TotalEnergies network to carry out analysis work.
Totalgarde is a laboratory based in the UK where oil analysis is carried out to enable Finol to identify problems that may have arisen in a particular machine or as part of a preventative maintenance programme. As a service, it provides the most information and advantage to the customer when used over several samples to establish wear trends and current oil conditions.
ANAC is based in France and brings together the database of results from over a million samples over thirty tears.
As well as being able to provide the basic functions of Totalgarde ANAC, an in-house Total laboratory, has set up specialist functions for a number of areas including HGVs, Industry, Automotive, Marine etc.
Not only will you get the advantages of trend analysis you will also have your equipment compared with similar equipment in the database and will be advised how your equipment is performing compared to similar equipment previously tested by ANAC. ANAC is the only analysis system with this powerful comparative feature.
